15th Annual Official NC Gold Festival
Where Gold was First Recorded!

You're Invited!

Come on down to the 15th Annual NC Gold Festival on June 1st and 2nd 2018.

The Festival takes place on the Gold Foundation Land and the Lucky Strike Gem Mine in Vein Mountain, and will feature exhibits, demonstrations, and activities relating to our rich gold mining heritage.

We'll be revealing more details as we get closer to the Festival, and we can't wait to see you there!

Win a Gold Coin in our Treasure Hunt!

If you wish to metal detect and have a Detector, bring it. There will be at least a couple of metal detectors available on loan. Someone will give you instructions on their use if needed.

Coins will be buried on the site of the “Old Stamp Mill; Older, Silver Quarters, Mercury Dimes , Kennedy and walking Liberty Half dollars and wheat pennies.

There will be a special prize for the person who finds coins with the highest face amount value.

Special Proof Silver coins will also be buried; Kennedy half dollars, Washington Quarters, Roosevelt Dimes and Lincoln pennies will also be buried. They will be easily identifiable by their beautiful shiny luster and there will be a red X on the package. Each of these newer proof coins will count as 2 finds. So, if you find any coin with The red X, you get credit for 2 of the denomination.

If you find a coin, it belongs to you.

There will be 2 prizes.
  • 1905-S $5. Gold coin awarded to the person finding the most Face amount value.
  • A $2.50 Gold Indian Head gold coin awarded to the person who finds the least Face amount.

In case of a tie, a coin toss will determine the prize winners.

The gold rush history is still very prevalent in NC and the southwest US. Why not do yourself and family a little favor and go to this historical place and learn more about our regional history while having a wonderful time

Exhibitor Information

Applications are now being accepted from local crafters and vendors who would like to be a part of the 15th Annual Official NC Gold Festival!

Set-up begins at noon on Thursday for those needing extra time. Set-up on Friday morning will begin at 7:00 a.m. or earlier by advance request. Set-up time and space requirements will determine the location of the booth. Take down: As a courtesy to all vendors/exhibitors, booths are to remain in place until the end of the Festival at 6:00pm on Saturday.
